Clear Communication, Policies Among Best Florida COVID Workplace Rules, Orlando Business Journal

RumbergerKirk Partner Chase Hattaway

Chase Hattaway discusses why it is important for employers to implement clear policies on what is required in the office, why it is required and when exemptions or accommodations can be provided regarding COVID workplace rules in the Florida Business Journal’s Employer’s Guide to the Coronavirus Pandemic on October 22, 2021 which was distributed in the Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and South Florida Business Journals.

“Implementing policies in this manner will help avoid confusion,” explains Hattaway. “Additionally, disciplining employees for non-compliance is much easier if an employer provided the employee a clear policy and documented that the employee actually received the policy.”

The article mentions that full approval for the vaccine could help guide an employer to be more comfortable with a mandate. “Indeed, polls have shown that many unvaccinated people were waiting for the FDA to fully approve the vaccine before getting vaccinated,” said Hattaway. “So, employers may feel more comfortable requiring employees to receive the vaccine now that the FDA has issued full approval.”
