Federal Jury in Miami Finds in Favor of Yamaha in $15M Product Liability Case
Scott Sarason and Michael Holt, partners in the Miami office, were part of the defense team for Yamaha Motor Corp., USA and Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. in the $15M product liability case that involved a WaveRunner personal watercraft. The federal jury in Miami returned a unanimous defense verdict in favor of Yamaha in July.
The case, Mizrahi vs Yamaha Motors Corp USA et al (17-24484-Civ-Scola), was featured in the Daily Business Review on September 3, 2019. Taking a unique approach, the defense team brought the watercraft in question into the courtroom, allowing jurors a closer look at it during deliberations. The defense team included Scott Sarason and Michael Holt along with Richard Mueller and Heather Counts of Thompson Coburn who argued that the watercraft, owners manual and other documents featured clear warnings.
