Generative AI’s Impact on K-12 Education and Pitfalls for Education Leaders

Leonard Dietzen spoke with the Florida School Board Attorneys Association (FSBAA) about the impact of generative AI on all industries, including K-12 education. During his discussion, he reviewed the latest Open AI technology features and key providers from ChatGPT and Perplexity to Google Gemini and Claude 3. The potential uses for the technology are vast–from assisting teachers in drafting lesson plans to human resources professionals using it to write meaningful interview questions and a multitude of other uses. Due to the widespread adoption and use of the technology, he stressed the importance of developing AI policies and including it in the student code of conduct to encourage best practices among all users.
