Jacey Kaps Talks about Cyberspace Litigation Risks at the National Restaurant Association’s Information Technology Executive Study Group Spring Meeting
Jacey Kaps spoke at the National Restaurant Association’s Information Technology Executive Study Group Spring Meeting in New Orleans April 23-25. His talk looked at the litigation risks cyberspace presents restaurants.
During his presentation, Kaps noted that there is a great deal of activity in ADA website litigation and class action data breach matters. He outlined some areas to be concerned about as potential traps for litigation spring from insider malicious actions, vague vendor agreements that fail to spell out data ownership and notice responsibilities, and the unknowns that approach with the upcoming GDPR start date (May 25, 2018). He discussed strategies to prepare for these issues and what to do when the apparently inevitable litigation happens.
The Information Technology Executive Study Group is made up of restaurant technology executives who meet biannually to share vital areas of expertise and cutting edge ideas. For more information, visit the National Restaurant Association.
