Linda Bond Edwards Has Been Appointed to the Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls
The Tallahassee City Commission approved the appointment of Linda Bond Edwards, selected by Commissioner Elaine Bryant, to the Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. The 21-member citizen advisory committee to the Leon County Board of County commissioners and the City of Tallahassee Commission promotes awareness of issues facing women and girls in Tallahassee and Leon County, from discrimination, access to justice and freedom from violence to employment, education and economic security.
During her two-year term, Edwards hopes to work with fellow commissioners to implement programs to address issues specifically identified by recent research. Edwards believes in introducing women and girls to different aspects of life and community. One example is the “Girls Where They Are” program that introduces at risk middle school girls to the legal profession. Edwards initiated this program when she served as president of Tallahassee Women Lawyers.
