Partner Suzanne Singer wins Case for Miami-Dade College
Suzanne Singer represented Miami Dade College during an administrative hearing before the Division of Retirement. The issue presented was whether the Petitioner, Tom Hood, was entitled to special risk classification during his employment with the College under Fl. Stat. §121.0515. Mr. Hood claimed that after May 2005, when Miami Dade College reactivated its Police Department, he acted as Director of Training and Chief of Police, and his duties included pursuit, apprehension and arrest. Ms. Singer argued that his duties did not include pursuit, apprehension and arrest and that he was an administrator. The five-member panel unanimously agreed with the College’s position.
