Rebecca Beers Elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Birmingham Bar Association
At its annual meeting on December 8, 2023, the Birmingham Bar Association (BBA) announced the election of its 2024 Executive Committee. RumbergerKirk partner Rebecca Beers has been elected to serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the BBA for 2024. Beers has served on the BBA’s Executive Committee for the past three years, as well as in 2018 when she served as President of the BBA Young Lawyers Section. She has been an active member of the BBA throughout her legal career.
“I am looking forward to continuing to serve the Bar and my fellow Birmingham attorneys, as well as the Greater Birmingham community, in this new role,” said Beers. She said she is looking forward to continuing the ‘Students Today, Lawyers Tomorrow’ program started by the BBA’s Immediate Past President Marcus Maples and working to prepare and inspire Birmingham City Schools students for careers in law.

Beers will be working directly with Maples, newly-elected President Elect Robert E. “Bob” Battle of Battle and Winn LLP, and incoming BBA President Sharon D. Stuart, a partner with Christian & Small LLP. Elected at-large members of the BBA’s Executive Committee are Stanley Blackmon, Anna M. Carroll, A. David Fawal, Susan N. Han, Tina Lam, Julie E. McMakin, Virginia E. Miller, Janine L. Smith, Tripp Watson, and Laura S. Winston. The Magic City Bar Association representative is Christopher Burrell. Lisha L. Graham will serve as the Alabama State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners representative.
