Firm Recognized for Assisting Programs Dedicated to Helping Poor Children and Promoting Legal Professionalism and Ethics
MIAMI – May 21, 2015 – The attorneys in the Miami office of RumbergerKirk were recently honored with the Outstanding Large Firm Award from Dade Legal Aid/Put Something Back, a nonprofit organization that provides legal assistance to qualifying low-income residents of Miami-Dade County. Paul Lipton, Rumberger’s Director of Professionalism, Career and Skill Development also received a lifetime recognition for service to the Bar and the legal community.
The firm participates in numerous pro bono activities, sponsorships and seminars benefitting Dade Legal Aid’s clients who are struggling with issues such as wrongful eviction, sexual assault and bankruptcy proceedings. The attorneys accept cases in a wide array of areas and sponsor in house trainings.
“For over 30 years, these tireless champions of pro bono services have successfully combined expertise and generosity while ‘giving something back’ to their community,” said Chief Judge Bertila Soto, Eleventh Judicial Circuit, who presented the award.
Rumberger attorneys Nicole Smith and Caitlin Trowbridge accepted the honors on behalf of the firm.
Dade Legal Aid recognized Rumberger’s firm-wide initiative to provide in depth mentoring and career guidance to help all generations of litigators embrace their roles as leaders within the profession and community.
“With Rumberger’s continued support and participation, we served dozens of voiceless children, families, victims and other vulnerable residents in need with nowhere else to turn,” said Karen Josefsberg Ladis, executive director, Dade Legal Aid. “While we are extremely grateful to all those who truly make a difference in the lives of our clients, we proudly recognized Rumberger’s extraordinary commitment and dedication,” said Ladis.
Dade Legal Aid assists clients in domestic violence, family law, child and teen advocacy, guardianship and probate, housing and foreclosure, bankruptcy and consumer, employment, arts and intellectual property, nonprofits and taxation, venture law, veterans affairs, and aging adults.
