RumbergerKirk's Jacey Kaps Selected as Program Vice-Chair for 2011 DRI Strictly Retail Seminar
MIAMI- RumbergerKirk partner, Jacey Kaps, has been selected to serve as Program Vice-Chair for the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) 2011 Strictly Retail Program Seminar to be held in Chicago on May 12-13.
The DRI held their first Strictly Retail Seminar in March 2010 where Kaps led a panel that addressed product liability issues confronting retailers that included speakers from wlagreen Co. and Big Lots. Kaps also presented on issues of spoliation of evidence and trends in damages. The seminar provides education and discussion forms on legal and risk management issues facing retailers. The seminar faculty includes outside counsel along with representatives from retail companies, insurers, service providers, security firms and others, presenting thorough legal analysis, as well as practical recommendations for addressing real-world problems.
Kaps focuses his practice on the representation of the domestic retail, restaurant and lodging sectors. His retail clients operate online, via catalogs and through brick and mortar stores. Clients he represents include big box department stores, the construction industry, food wholesalers and the manufacturing sector.
His work as national and regional coordinating counsel for retailers has provided him with a broad based experience in handling the issues that confront the retail sector. He has significant experience in complex litigation matters, and defends many catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. He also acts as a consultant to the retail sector in managing litigation.
