Rebecca Beers focuses her practice on securities and commercial litigation and has litigated cases from pre-suit negotiations to final appeals, appearing before judges, juries, and arbitrators during trial. She represents broker-dealers and registered investment advisors in state and federal courts and in FINRA arbitration, litigating claims related to employment contracts, clearing broker liability, suitability, fraud, supervision, raiding, and trust liability. She also has substantial experience in defending pest control industry claims, including breach of contract and fraud actions as well as toxic tort and personal injury matters within the industry in arbitration and in courts across the country. In addition, Rebecca has experience defending class action, product liability, insurance, and employment matters. Through research and practical experience, Rebecca has developed a broad-based knowledge of arbitration law, particularly in post-award litigation in courts and in the enforcement of arbitration agreements.
Prior to entering private practice, Rebecca served as a law clerk to Senior United States District Judge William M. Acker, Jr. for the Northern District of Alabama.
In 2022, Rebecca was selected as a member of the 2023 Class of Leadership Birmingham, and in 2020, she was named as one of the Birmingham Business Journal‘s “Top 40 Under 40.” In addition, Rebecca was chosen as a member of Class III of the Alabama Leadership Initiative; selected as a member of Class XI of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum; and named Birmingham-Southern College’s “Outstanding Young Alumni” for 2012. Other recognitions include being chosen one of B-Metro Magazine’s “Top Attorneys” for 2020 and 2021 and “Top Women Lawyers” for 2018-2020; recognized as a “Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Star” in Securities Litigation 2014-2017 and in 2020; and named as Rising Star of the Bar in two local publications (by the Birmingham Business Journal in 2015 and by B-Metro Magazine in 2013).
She is actively involved in bar and civic organizations including being elected to a three-year term on the Birmingham Bar Association Executive Committee and previously serving as President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar Association. Rebecca also serves on the Edward Lee Norton Board of Advisors for Birmingham-Southern College and is chair of that organization’s Law Committee. She is a Past President of the Birmingham-Southern College National Alumni Association and a former member of the Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees. She previously served as Chair of the Birmingham-Southern College Young Alumni Council.
Rebecca is a Past President of the Young Supporters Board of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a current member of the Rotary Club of Birmingham and a past member of that organization’s Board of Directors. In addition, Rebecca has volunteered with the Junior League of Birmingham, The Exceptional Foundation, The Women’s Foundation of Alabama, the YWCA of Greater Birmingham, and the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program.
