Although Week 6 was a holiday week, that didn’t stop me from being able to learn new things and work on new cases! Although I don’t want this summer with Rumberger to end, I am so happy with all of the great skills I am learning from my time here.
On Monday, I finished work on a research memorandum and began researching new evidentiary issues for a case. I was a bit nervous, as I haven’t taken Evidence yet, but with some guidance from my mentor Fred Clarke and partner Jimmy Walsh, I feel like I am ready to begin this new project!
Throughout the week, I continued working on some other projects that had been assigned. With the help of Robin Cutts, the corporate trainer at Rumberger, I was able to get my computer up and running to complete my tasks. I am so thankful that Robin is always available to help and show me tips and tricks on my computer!
Wednesday was a bit of a quieter day due to the upcoming holiday, but that didn’t stop me from continuing to work on my projects and prepare for the upcoming Summer Associate Program assignments. I went to lunch with Fred and partner Rebecca Beers to a restaurant I had been wanting to try. I always appreciate how much the attorneys at Rumberger take the time to get to know me and make sure I’m having a great experience.
On Friday, I was able to get a lot of work done on some projects for the Summer Associate Program. I worked on preparing an oral argument for the Motion Practice Workshop, as well as outlining a deposition for the Deposition Workshop. Both of these workshops will occur in Week 7, and I can’t wait to see how they help me develop my skills.
Also on Friday, I continued researching and preparing my presentation for the attorney luncheon, which will be based on a recent Supreme Court decision. I am excited to share my case briefing, as well as some commentary that has resulted from the decision.
Lastly, Friday the Summer Associate Mock Trial problem was released! I am so excited to begin working on the Mock Trial and I can’t wait for our further discussions on how we will prepare for the trial. The Mock Trial will take place in Orlando during our last week at Rumberger. I know there will be a lot of work to prepare for it, but I couldn’t be more excited to take on this opportunity.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next couple of weeks!
